Company eliminates oxybenzone from SPF formulas
MORRO BAY , CA (December 10, 2009) – Elemental Herbs’ commitment to beneficial ingredients in its line of healing products is more than just lip service. The company’s “All Good Lips” SPF organic lip balms will be free of oxybenzone, effective January 1.
“We became aware of the possible negative effects of oxybenzone, and figured out a way to eliminate if from our formulas. “We stand by our intention to use safe ingredients – we want our customers to know they can count on us for this,” said Caroline Duell, president of Elemental Herbs.
With an SPF of 12, the new formula will provide the same unsurpassed moisturizing and healing benefits as the previous formula, along with more than 90 percent coverage from the sun’s harmful rays.
One of the few lip balms including certified organic and natural ingredients, All Good Lips SPF formulas are offered in original, sweet tangerine and cool spearmint flavors, and in a non-SPF moisturizing-only formula. Ingredients include 100 percent botanical essential oils, organic infused dried medicinal herbs, organic extra virgin olive oil and pure beeswax. All Good Lips is available to retailers in 18-piece cases for $31.50 per case. Individual lip balms retail for $3.50 each.
The lip balms are also available for private labeling. According to recent literature by Patagonia , “Elemental Herbs shares our ethos of ‘build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm’…” Adds Duell, “Patagonia Footwear’s enthusiasm in promoting the new version of the lip balm is a testament to the viability of values-based decisions.”
